Milking in the field
The Open Air Dairy is pretty unique! Our cows are milked in which ever field they are grazing, they don't even come in for milking. We take the milking parlours to the cows where ever they are. We believe the cows are happier and healthier this way and we believe you can taste this happiness in every bite of our cheddar.
A new vision for farming
The Open Air Dairy was born out of friendship. Tom and Neil met at the University of Plymouth and there began a life long friendship. Together with their families they began The Open Air Dairy with a vision for how dairy farming could be done differently.

The Open Air Dairy is nestled amongst the South Dorset Downs, with wind sweeping in off the sea. It's our unique location and gentle farming methods that makes our cheese taste so great.
